We need your clothing donations! All sizes, men’s, women’s and especially children and infant. Our reserve shelves are empty and the racks are looking thin. We do not need hangers; we have plenty of those. Donations can be brought to the church, Dike City Hall or New Hartford Library. Thank you for your support.
The Family Closet is open on the first and third Saturday morning of each month from 9:30-noon and the first and third Wednesday evening of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. Clothing is free to anyone.
The Fall Food Drive for the Dike and New Hartford food pantries will be
conducted from Sunday, October 29 through Sunday, November 19.
Remember to pick up extra items when you are at the store; then just drop
them in the grocery cart inside the north church entrance. Examples of items
Non-perishable food items – canned meats, fruits, vegetables, soups,
rice, pastas, cereal, peanut butter
Toiletries – shampoo, toothpaste, bath soap
Paper products – Kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels, hygiene products
Cleaning & laundry supplies – laundry soap, dish soap
Cash donations are also greatly appreciated. Both food pantries are affiliated
with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and benefit from its bulk purchasing power.
Cash donations can be put in the Sunday offering plate with a note indicating it
is for the food drive. If writing a check, please make it payable to Fredsville
with a notation in the memo directing the money to the food bank. Donation
envelopes are available in the basket of the grocery cart.
The need is great; let our giving be even greater!!
Calling all members! We will be holding a church work day following worship and the “Adult only” Mission Trip meeting. There are a variety of outdoor projects as well as cleanup projects over at the villa that we would like to take care of as a church family. Lunch will be provided at 11:00 am and we will have all hands on deck following lunch to no later than 2:00 pm! Wear your jeans and work clothes to worship, bring some gloves with you to help pull weeds, clean out gutters, trim shrubs or use a broom etc… Let’s have some fun together and remember cleanliness is next to godliness!!!!
Please sign up so we know that we can count on you and your family to help and have plenty of food for lunch!
On Sunday, September 17th following worship Pastor Lisa will hold a meeting in the conference room for any adults interested in going on an adults only mission trip. Each year while planning the youth trips many adults have commented that they would be interested in having a trip designed for them. So this will be a meeting to find out who might be serious about a trip and to talk about where we might go and what we would like to do! Let’s dream and get excited! Fredsville adults it’s time to travel and do some mission work!!!!
Each Sunday during Advent, November 27th –December 18th, we will be collecting baby items during the offering. Diapers and new clothing items will be collected in celebration of the coming of the Christ child and the 2nd coming of Christ. Please remember a baby item to “fill the cradle”. The items collected will be donated to Fredsville’s Family Clothes Closet, the food pantry and the women’s shelter.
Don’t forget Fredsville is hosting a benefit breakfast on Saturday, August 13 from 7:30-10:30 a.m. in the DNH School multi-purpose room. Menu is scrambled eggs, sausage, fresh fruit and our own “signature” aebleskiver!!! Volunteers are needed Friday night at 6:00 to setup plus in many capacities on Saturday. Sign up on the clipboard in the gathering space or contact any committee member.
Watermelon Day Parade
Fredsville Lutheran Church will once again have a float in the parade and pass out freezer pops. The volunteers in the past have always had a great time sharing their creative talents and passing out freezer pops. Please watch for the details and sign-up sheets so you can share the fun!
Join Fredsville’s “Serving by Sewing” ministry as we begin meeting on the second Tuesday of the month. Our next sewing time is Tuesday June 14th from noon-4:00 p.m. to make pillowcase dresses for girls and shorts for boys. You’ll have a fun afternoon of fellowship and “Serving by Sewing.” And, you don’t have to know how to run a sewing machine. There are other steps in the process of producing these cute little garments and packing them for shipment to be used around the world. If you are not able to join us, please remember our ministry in prayer and with donations of pillowcases (new or gently used), elastic, thread, binding, ric-rac and buttons. Questions??? Fredsville Lutheran Church has a new community outreach — The Family Closet.
Anyone in need is welcome to come to Fredsville Lutheran Church at 32756 150th St, Cedar Falls, IA 50613 and select free clothing for their immediate family on the first and third Saturday each month from 9:30 am to noon and every Wednesday from 6 – 7:30 pm. If these times do not work, special appointments can be arranged by contacting the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org or (319) 989-2065. People interested in serving by helping with The Family Closet ministry should also contact the church office.
Our “For Visitors” Web page offers detailed directions on getting to the church. Doors with The Family Closet signs in the windows are the most convenient ones for entering to get to the rooms with the clothing, but feel free to use any door and go down to the church basement.
Donating to the Closet
We accept donations of new or gently used clothing only for men, women and children. Donated items must be clean with no rips or stains. Donations of new packages of underwear or pairs of socks are welcome. We cannot accept shoes at this time as we do not have enough space to display them.
Donations can be dropped off at Fredsville Lutheran Church, Dike City Hall or New Hartford Public Library.
