Each Wednesday throughout the season of Lent, we will have informal mid-week worship services at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall preceded by a free meal at 5:45 p.m. Handbell choir will rehearse at 7:15 p.m. and choir will rehearse at 8 p.m.
The services will focus on the the final words of Christ.
Feb. 21: Father, forgive them.
Feb. 28: Today you will be with me in paradise.
March 7: Behold your son, behold your mother.
March 14: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
March 21: I thirst.
On Wednesday, March 28, there will be no meal and worship will be at 7 p.m. This will be the “Maundy Thursday” service, held on Wednesday night because it fits schedules better for it to be on “church night.” The words for that night will be “Into your hands I commend my spirit.”
There will be a Fancy Fingers day for socializing and working on individual projects (sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, whatever you want) on Saturday, February 17, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Lunch will be provided, so please R.S.V.P. to the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org or (319) 989-2065.
We need your clothing donations! All sizes, men’s, women’s and especially children and infant. Our reserve shelves are empty and the racks are looking thin. We do not need hangers; we have plenty of those. Donations can be brought to the church, Dike City Hall or New Hartford Library. Thank you for your support.
The Family Closet is open on the first and third Saturday morning of each month from 9:30-noon and the first and third Wednesday evening of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. Clothing is free to anyone.
Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year, therefore we will celebrate the fourth Sunday in Advent at our 9:30 a.m. worship service. Then at 5:00 p.m. worship celebrate Christmas. The Christmas Eve worship will include candle light and communion. Please invite your family and friends to join us in a beautiful celebration of the birth of Christ. Merry Christmas to All!
A Danish tradition is to dance around the Christmas tree singing Christmas carols. We will dance around the tree following the December 17th worship and after the morning worship on the 24th. Please join in by holding hands and circling the tree with joyous carols of praise! It is a lot of fun and great way to celebrate the season with your church friends!
The women’s circle will gather December 5th at 9:00 a.m. at the Village Inn on Ridgeway in Waterloo. We will celebrate the Christmas season by sharing breakfast and a time of fellowship with one another. If you are interested in joining us, we would love to have you! Please call the church office so reservations can be made.
The Fall Food Drive for the Dike and New Hartford food pantries will be
conducted from Sunday, October 29 through Sunday, November 19.
Remember to pick up extra items when you are at the store; then just drop
them in the grocery cart inside the north church entrance. Examples of items
Non-perishable food items – canned meats, fruits, vegetables, soups,
rice, pastas, cereal, peanut butter
Toiletries – shampoo, toothpaste, bath soap
Paper products – Kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels, hygiene products
Cleaning & laundry supplies – laundry soap, dish soap
Cash donations are also greatly appreciated. Both food pantries are affiliated
with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and benefit from its bulk purchasing power.
Cash donations can be put in the Sunday offering plate with a note indicating it
is for the food drive. If writing a check, please make it payable to Fredsville
with a notation in the memo directing the money to the food bank. Donation
envelopes are available in the basket of the grocery cart.
The need is great; let our giving be even greater!!
Calling all members! We will be holding a church work day following worship and the “Adult only” Mission Trip meeting. There are a variety of outdoor projects as well as cleanup projects over at the villa that we would like to take care of as a church family. Lunch will be provided at 11:00 am and we will have all hands on deck following lunch to no later than 2:00 pm! Wear your jeans and work clothes to worship, bring some gloves with you to help pull weeds, clean out gutters, trim shrubs or use a broom etc… Let’s have some fun together and remember cleanliness is next to godliness!!!!

On Sunday, September 17th following worship Pastor Lisa will hold a meeting in the conference room for any adults interested in going on an adults only mission trip. Each year while planning the youth trips many adults have commented that they would be interested in having a trip designed for them. So this will be a meeting to find out who might be serious about a trip and to talk about where we might go and what we would like to do! Let’s dream and get excited! Fredsville adults it’s time to travel and do some mission work!!!!
