Becoming a member

All are welcome to attend worship and participate in Fredsville activities, regardless of church membership. However, members have voting privileges in church meetings, pay lower rates for use of church facilities (including weddings and funerals), are listed in church directory (although you may request to be unlisted), and may be buried in the church cemetery. Fredsville’s Endowment Fund also provides financial support for children of members attending church camp and undergraduate scholarships for members or children of members.

We do not have formal “new member” classes nor do we require new members to make a formal statement of faith in front of the congregation.

When at church, anyone may take a membership form from a folder in the bin outside the church secretary’s office. Also, membership forms may be requested via e-mail (fredsville@fredsvillelutheran.org) or by calling the church office (319-989-2065).

To stay active members, people must receive communion and make a monetary contribution at least once every two years. Offering are important to support the ministries and facility of the church, but there is not a specific minimum contribution amount that must be met.
